Thursday 27th August 2026.

24 miles. 3 peaks. 1 purpose.

This summer, supporters, employers, mentors, volunteers and friends of BREAKOUT will come together to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge as part of the very first BREAKOUT Day.

A demanding 24-mile trek across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

  • An early start.

  • Tough climbs.

  • Questionable decisions.

  • One unforgettable day.

But honestly?

BREAKOUT Day is about far more than one hike.

Because every single day, we meet talented young people already climbing uphill battles of their own.

  • Young people applying for hundreds of jobs and hearing absolutely nothing back.

  • Young people slowly losing confidence in themselves whilst trying to navigate systems that often feel fragmented, transactional and difficult to connect with.

  • Young people full of potential but lacking access to the opportunities, networks and support many others take for granted.

At BREAKOUT, we’re very clear:

Young people aren’t the problem.

The system is.

Over the last few years, conversations around youth unemployment, opportunity and social mobility have increasingly focused on what young people need to do differently.

But the reality is often far more complicated.

Too many young people are trying to navigate pathways that are becoming increasingly fragile. Not because they lack ambition. Not because they lack potential. But because they often lack access.

  • Access to opportunities.

  • Access to networks.

  • Access to guidance.

  • Access to people in their corner.

And that’s exactly why BREAKOUT exists.

Because whilst programmes, policies and initiatives all have their place, we’re incredibly clear that people matter.

  • Relationships matter.

  • Community matters.

We believe everyone deserves somebody in their corner, someone who believes in them, someone who backs them, Someone who helps them see what’s possible when they can’t always see it themselves.

That’s what we’re trying to build at BREAKOUT.

Something intentionally different, something more human, something built on relationships, community and people showing up for one another.

BREAKOUT Day is our opportunity to turn that belief into action.

Not simply to climb mountains.

But to bring people together around a shared belief that young people deserve better pathways into opportunity, employment and adulthood.

Every pound raised will help us continue building opportunities, mentoring, community and support for young people navigating increasingly difficult pathways into their future.

Because whilst the challenge lasts one day, the impact goes far beyond it.

Our flagship challenge for 2026 will be the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Participants will take on a fully supported 24-mile circular route covering Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, supported throughout the day by professional mountain guides and a dedicated support vehicle.

We’re asking participants to commit to raising a minimum of £250 to support BREAKOUT’s work with young people.

Not a fan of hiking?

No problem.

BREAKOUT Day isn’t just about one challenge.

You could organise your own fundraiser, take on a challenge that suits you, help raise awareness, support a participant or simply make a donation.

The important thing isn’t how you get involved.

It’s that you do.

BREAKOUT is still early in its journey, but the movement building behind it already feels incredibly powerful.

Since launching, we’ve already delivered our first Future Focus programme, bringing together young people from across Greater Manchester to build confidence, develop employability skills and connect with opportunities.

We’ve welcomed incredible volunteers, mentors, employers and supporters into the BREAKOUT community and we’re only just getting started.

BREAKOUT Day isn’t really about reaching the summit.

It’s about standing alongside a generation of young people who deserve more belief, more support and more visible pathways into opportunity.

It’s about showing up.

Together.

If you’d like to get involved in BREAKOUT Day, whether that’s taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, organising your own fundraiser or supporting the campaign in another way, simply complete the contact form on our website and a member of the team will be in touch.

Let’s build something intentionally different.

We’re inviting individuals, employers, organisations and supporters to get involved by:

  • Taking on the challenge

  • Sponsoring participants

  • Supporting the movement

  • Raising awareness

  • Or simply backing our wider mission

Every contribution helps us continue building more connected, human and opportunity-focused support around young people navigating increasingly difficult pathways into work and their future,

If you’d simply like to donate and back the mission, you can do so by clicking here.
